At least once a week, someone approaches me with a final draft of their manuscript asking for advice on publishing their manuscript. I love to help. It is such an exciting time, like attending the birth of a baby. I write a separate response to each query, but it has occurred to me that I should really put all of the information I have gathered over the years into a series of posts.
After thirteen years, I still learn something new almost every day. So, I encourage those seeking advice to do their own research, but to be sure to address the highlights of my advice: Get an editor and decide if to self-publish or not. If you self-publish, then I give advice about covers and cover design, illustrations, layout and design, and choosing a printer.
